Ultimate 2 Stroller Overview
We all want the best for our babies, and the perfect stroller is no exception. It’s a bonus when that stroller includes all the features we desire and looks darn beautiful to boot. Enter the Mompush Ultimate 2.
After assembling this stroller, I marveled at its beauty. Really. It’s gorgeous. With the bassinet attached, it has that classic pram look about it but with sleek, modern lines and colors. The bassinet detaches, transforming it into a full-sized stroller to be used as your child grows.
When it’s in full-sized stroller mode, you have the option to position your child either rear- or forward-facing with four different reclining positions. The footrest is also adjustable as is the handle.
Like the Mompush Lithe, the Ultimate 2 utilizes a suspension system for a smoother ride in addition to a one-touch foot brake. The front wheels of the Ultimate 2 rotate 360 degrees for easy turning.
And a modern stroller wouldn’t be complete without the ability to fold compactly for travel. Not only does the Mompush Ultimate 2 do that, it’s also lightweight and stands by itself once it’s folded.
How We Rated This Stroller
When purchasing anything for your child, you always want to do your research. But don’t worry—I have all your answers in this Ultimate 2 stroller review. I analyzed everything from cost to safety to comfort so you can decide for yourself how awesome this stroller is.
Cost
Luxury strollers can cost $1,000 or more. That being said, the Ultimate 2 comes in well below that price point. Compared to similar strollers with independent bassinets, the Ultimate 2 does run on the higher side by about $100. But still, it won’t break your bank.
Safety
In either mode, the Mompush Ultimate 2 has a one-touch foot brake as well as a large canopy that offers UPF 50+ sun protection. When in stroller mode, it utilizes a five-point harness for optimum safety.
The bassinet suggests a weight limit of 19 pounds while the stroller’s weight limit is 33 pounds. As per the Mompush safety manual, infants younger than six months should not sit in the toddler seat, especially if they can’t hold their heads independently. Alternately, you should refrain from using the bassinet once your child can sit up on their own.
Function
While the manual instructs that this Mompush stroller should not be used as a jogging stroller, its oversized wheels work similarly. The Ultimate 2 goes over bumps easily and smoothly, and the 360-degree rotating front wheels make steering a breeze.
Additionally, it’s so simple to switch between bassinet mode and toddler stroller mode. Each seat clicks in and out with the push of a button. And you can position the toddler seat either rear- or forward-facing to suit your needs.
Cleaning
Children are messy; we know this. Cleaning a stroller, in particular, can be tricky, but Mompush leaves the hassle for other brands. All plastic, metal, and fabric parts of the Ultimate 2 are 100% polyester and can be wiped with a damp cloth in a solution of warm water and mild detergent. Be sure to let it air dry completely before folding or using.
Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive materials when cleaning the Mompush Ultimate 2.
Folding
In one quick step, this stroller folds to a compact size, and what’s more, it stands by itself when folded! The frame’s combination of aluminum and magnesium makes the stroller lightweight and easy to carry. Additionally, the stroller folds with or without the toddler seat attached. However, you do have to remove the bassinet before folding.
Comfort
For your child, the comfort options are endless. The toddler seat offers four different reclining positions, which are adjustable with one hand. The footrest is also adjustable.
Equipped with shock-absorbing suspension, your child’s ride is smooth and effortless. Whether they fall asleep in the bassinet or the toddler seat, the suspension ensures they stay that way.
But parents should also seek their own comfort when stroller shopping. Luckily, the Ultimate 2 has an amazing comfort feature just for us! The faux leather handle is adjustable to the height of the person operating the stroller. With the push of one button, the handle telescopes up or down to suit your personal comfort.
Pros & Cons
Pros
Bassinet or stroller mode with seating position options
Shock-absorbing suspension and oversized wheels
One-step compact fold
Cons
High price point
Can’t fold with bassinet attached
Heavy
I struggled to come up with three cons for this Mompush Ultimate 2 stroller review. But I could list the pros all day!
Features to Love
As someone of a shorter stature, I often find stroller handle heights slightly uncomfortable, so I fully appreciate the telescoping handle. My husband is over a foot taller than me, so the option to adjust the handle to fit each of us is a lovely feature.
I also love how easy it is to push the stroller. Not only does the all-wheel suspension make it a smoother ride for children, but it makes it easier for the operator to maneuver over big bumps.
It’s pretty great to have the option to position my child in different directions. This isn’t a feature I normally see on many strollers.
Before You Buy
At the manual’s suggestion, you should not carry your child in the bassinet for safety purposes. Remove your child from the bassinet first before unclipping it from the frame.
For all this stroller’s conveniences, I was a bit underwhelmed by the bassinet portion. I personally found it inconvenient to have to remove the bassinet before folding. Once it’s removed, you have to carry the stroller frame and the bassinet separately. And although, individually, they are lightweight, together … not so much.
I mentioned one other minor inconvenience in the pros and cons list. The handle is cushy and thick, which, for the average person, is probably great. However, as someone with smaller hands, I found it slightly uncomfortable to grip. This most likely won’t affect most users.
I wouldn’t use this stroller when out and about alone. This is more of a “we’re going on a walk in the park as a family” type of stroller. But, dang, does it look good!
Final Verdict
Many of the features are above and beyond what you’d get with the average stroller and, in my opinion, worth the price. It offers a variety of seating options which ensures a long life with plenty of adventures for your little one.
