Years ago, a classic Moby Wrap was one of my very first baby purchases. It took some trial and error, but I eventually mastered the long piece of fabric that wrapped and twisted its way around my body to safely hold my baby.
I used that same wrap with subsequent children but always had to watch a video as a refresher to recall how to put it on. So, needless to say, when I stumbled upon the Moby Bump & Beyond T-Shirt Wrap I knew I had found a near perfect baby product. All the perks of a baby wrap with the simplicity of a pull-on t-shirt? Count me in!
The Moby Bump & Beyond T-Shirt Wrap removes the overwhelming steps of wrapping a giant piece of fabric and instead turns babywearing into a simple, slip-on T-shirt style. Plus, the shirt can be worn during pregnancy as a maternity shirt that supports your bump with gentle compression.

What Are the Benefits of Babywearing?
The benefits of babywearing include that it can help regulate your baby’s temperature, heart rate, and breathing, while also promoting bonding through skin-to-skin contact. Babywearing can also play a role in preventing flat head syndrome and helps promote social interaction by bringing baby up to face level. For centuries, babywearing has allowed parents and caregivers to utilize two hands while simultaneously caring for their little one. And, perhaps best of all, babywearing mimics the snug and secure feelings of the womb, making for a calmer and content baby.
How to Wear the Moby Bump & Beyond T-Shirt Wrap
It is ideal to purchase your Moby Bump & Beyond T-Shirt Wrap towards the tail end of your first trimester. You’ll want to get full use out of it by wearing it for belly and back support during both the second and third trimester.
During pregnancy
During pregnancy, you put on the Moby Bump & Beyond T-Shirt Wrap just like a T-shirt: over the head and settled around your hips. There are two ways to wear the shirt, depending on if you’d prefer support at your back or on your stomach:
- For belly support: Place the two support straps over your abdomen, crisscross under your belly, and then double knot them behind your back. This style of wearing best supports your belly with gentle upwards compression that helps relieve the pressure and heaviness of a growing bump.
- For back support: Pull the straps behind your back, crisscross, and then bring them forward to tie them under your belly, in the center, or off to the side. The fabric X applies counter pressure to the lower back, an essential for expecting mamas.
After pregnancy
Once your little one arrives. you will be ready to try the Moby Bump & Beyond T-Shirt Wrap in the “beyond” version. To properly and safely wear, begin by unlatching the top clasp and unzipping the sides to make room for baby. Next, you’re ready to place your baby in with these steps:
- Position baby high over one shoulder and reach up and under the T-shirt panel to guide baby’s legs down.
- Zip baby in and secure with safety latches.
- Tuck the U-shaped panel up and between baby’s legs to create a support hammock; knee to knee in a deep seat is the goal.
- Pull one strap across baby’s back and bottom and under the opposite leg; repeat on the other side.
- Secure the wrap by passing both straps behind your back and tying into a double knot. 6. Confirm that baby’s airway is clear and that they are close enough to kiss. You are now wrapped and ready to roll!
Moby Bump & Beyond T-Shirt Wrap: My Experience
I started wearing the Moby Bump & Beyond T-Shirt Wrap during my third trimester. I was suffering from what I call “heavy belly” as well as poor posture. In the past, I had used a ring sling for belly support as a way to deal with those problems, but it did not offer back support. I loved that the Moby Bump & Beyond T-Shirt Wrap could do both.
And once I tried it, I was hooked: the Moby Bump & Beyond T-Shirt Wrap became a near daily wear for me, thanks to its belly and back support.

Once I welcomed my baby, we transitioned to the front carry option of the Moby Bump & Beyond T-Shirt Wrap. Since I had practiced putting on the wrap during pregnancy, it was a simple learning curve to move from wearing the Moby Bump & Beyond T-Shirt Wrap as a bump piece to a babywearing piece.
I wore my new baby at just five days old in the Moby Bump & Beyond T-Shirt Wrap Putting it on was sweet and simple: I reviewed the steps from Moby and thanks to past wrapping experiences, got a snug and secure wrap on my first try. There is a learning curve with all babywearing though, so if your first time is not perfect, do not be discouraged!
The Moby Bump & Beyond T-Shirt Wrap is so soft and stretchy, it’s definitely one of the coziest ways to ergonomically carry a little one in their early days. I have loved having it as a tool to support frequent skin-to-skin while bonding with my baby and now, as my baby wraps up the first month of life outside of the womb, I can honestly say if our Moby Bump & Beyond T-Shirt Wrap is not in the wash or hanging to dry, I am wearing it. My not-so-little baby is now almost fourteen pounds, so my only disappointment is that we will hit the maximum weight of this carrier before I am ready to give it up.

Before You Buy
Before you purchase the Moby Bump & Beyond T-Shirt Wrap be aware that this will not be the only babywearing item you need. This wrap maxes out at 19.8 pounds, which means you will need another baby carrier or wrap once your baby outgrows the shirt.
Since this is a sized wrap, you will also need to assess and choose the correct one for you. I found that the Moby Bump & Beyond T-Shirt Wrap is very true to size. I was a medium before pregnancy and the size 2 fit both during pregnancy and postpartum. The downside to this is that I can’t share this wrap with my partner or offer it as a hand-me-down to my sister someday. Other types of wraps and carriers are one-size-fits-most and thus have that “shareable” factor, so keep that in mind before you buy if that’s a feature you’re looking for.
