The Glider was provided for review from Nurture&, but all opinions expressed are those of the writer’s.
Earlier this year our family moved across the country. Many items, including my beloved rocker and ottoman, did not make the cut. I had nursed and snuggled two of my babies in that wood and grey cushioned chair and I left a small piece of my heart with it. There is just nothing like a good, cozy spot to hold your little one. Thankfully, at our new home, a different chair awaited: the nursery glider recliner from Nuture&.
With a taller headrest, a full recline, and countless other features I anticipated that The Glider from Nurture& was going to quickly fill that hole in my heart. And thankfully, it has.
Here’s what to know about this nursery glider recliner from Nurture&.
In this article:
Overview of the Nursery Glider Recliner from Nurture&
The Glider is one of three chairs created by the brand Nurture&. It’s available in a soft gray, a warm ivory, and a classic navy that isn’t so dark it can’t pair with black nursery accents. The quality is exceptional and it functions impeccably for both my husband and I (6’1” and 5’7” respectively).
The polyester nylon blend is spill-proof while still being a non-toxic material and it even has a USB port tucked on the side next to the power recline and adjustable head support.
In the last few months I have had some of the sweetest, most comfortable nursing sessions and subsequent nap time snuggles with my baby. I love nothing more than holding him in The Glider while reading my Kindle or scrolling on my phone (usually looking at photos and videos of him, let’s be honest.)
What is a Nursery Recliner Glider?
If you’re wondering what the heck a nursery recliner glider is, it’s simple: recliner gliders combine the best of both a glider and a reclining chair that lets you lean back and put your feet up.
Gliders are similar to a rocking chair in that they have a gentle sway. The base has either a circular component or a structure that allows for a smooth, horizontal glide. Some will come with a footrest, others an ottoman. They’re fully cushioned and boast a wide price range depending on the materials, structure, and features.
Finally, recliners bring a more relaxed component to the nursery. A recliner allows parents to really find their sweet spot and snuggle in. With the touch of a button or a hand lever you can pop out a footrest and extend the seat’s back into a more prone position.
The most versatile nursery seats combine features like The Glider from Nurture&. It acts as both a recliner and a glider giving parents a custom fit with multiple options to soothe their little one.

How We Rated the Glider from Nurture&
At Truly Mama we know everyone is looking for different features when it comes to a seating option in baby’s nursery. For this review we have taken five categories into consideration:
- Design
- Quality
- Material (including ease of cleaning)
- Ergonomics and structure
- Versatility
The Glider from Nurture& hands down earns a full 5-star rating from Truly Mama.
Although an investment, The Glider is definitely a versatile piece of nursery furniture that will last long beyond its days in the nursery. It has a simple, modern design with strong lines that don’t scream “Grandpa’s recliner” and the material is both soft and family-friendly (that means it can handle spit up and more).
The Glider was created with ergonomic support in mind and doesn’t wobble or creak like many other nursery chairs I’ve tested. Plus, it has bonus features, like adjustable head support, quiet recliner motor, and USB port , that really set it above all others.
The Glider from Nurture&: Features We Love
I can honestly share that The Glider is my favorite piece of furniture in our nursery. I sneak away to snuggle my baby as often as I can and you may even find me reading alone in it sometimes!
Here are details about all the features that make The Glider a very much recommended option:
Simple set-up
The Glider only required two pieces to pair together. In less than 10 minutes, it was gliding and reclining in all its glory
Modern design
Have you shopped the nursery chair inventory lately? I’m guessing you have, since you’re reading up on The Glider. But let me tell you, in most cases you sacrifice style for comfort. You can find a chic chair with good lines, but then it lacks armrests. On the flip side, you find something suitable for snuggles but it looks like a chair at your grandparent’s home.
The Glider has somehow captured the best of both worlds with their modern design. It is both beautiful and comfortable.
Some reviews claim it to be too firm, but I honestly feel like it’s just right. After all, you don’t want a chair to be so cozy you drift off with babe in arms.
Quality construction
My husband is a big guy and often questions furniture that doesn’t appear sturdy enough. Not only does The Glider look sturdy, it is sturdy.
It doesn’t creak when you sit down or moan when you glide or recline; the cushions are made of premium materials that hold their shape and they are stain resistant. (A big benefit to any parent who has to feed a baby, ever.)
High-end finishes
Nurture& took things up a notch with The Glider. Not only is it a wonderful chair for nurseries and beyond they also incorporated quite a few little bells and whistles. For starters, we’ve got the power controls and USB port and the chair plugs in to power the various customizable positions.
However, the real start of the show is the adjustable head support. Being able to modify the head support is amazing, no matter which caregiver is sitting in the chair.
Ergonomic comfort
Looks and bonus features aside, what matters most in a nursery gliding recliner is comfort. After all, if a chair is going to be tucked in a corner to merely hold laundry it really isn’t a worthwhile investment.
The Glider is the perfect, comfortable size. It has a tall back so you are amply supported and it has a spacious seat. It’s also firm, so you can securely support your little one and then get up for the inevitable transfer without feeling stuck.
And, with the power recline and head support you can truly personalize your fit each time you settle in to feed or snuggle your little one to sleep.
The Glider Size Specs
As with all reclining chairs, you’ll want to make sure you have space for The Glider when it is both upright and in its reclined position so you can be sure it actually fits your space.
If you can position The Glider in an open area of the room that will be ideal, but I can also vouch for it adequately tucking in a corner. Here’s what it takes up, space-wise:
- Overall height: 42.1” tall
- Overall width: 33.3” wide
- Seat depth: 20.5” deep
- Seat height: 20.9” tall
- Seat width: 22.4” wide
- Arm width: 5.3” wide
- Arm height from floor: 24.8” tall
Cleaning
Here’s what to know about cleaning the Glider: although you can’t remove the covers, The Glider’s stain resistant material makes for easy clean up. The light texture of the fabric hides tiny spots well and bigger mishaps can be spot cleaned with a wet rag and then air dried.
A few spit-up incidences have required treatment with my favorite cleaner, Folex Instant Carpet Spot Remover, but with a gentle scrub, the Glider looks as good as new. Plus, there’s piling, discoloration, or no residual smell.
What to Consider Before You Buy
This wouldn’t be a thorough review if I didn’t mention a few things to take into consideration with The Glider.
Here are a handful of details you will want to be aware of before purchasing:
- This is a big chair. The Glider is the most comfortable chair I own, but with comfort comes some space sacrifice. To fully benefit from The Glider, you want it positioned in a spot where it can fully extend and thus, you will need an adequately-sized room to accommodate it. So, if you are working with a small nursery, you may need to look at a seating option with a smaller footprint.
- The armrests aren’t ideal for nursing. While the arm rests on The Glider are sufficiently wide, for me, they seemed low to me, especially when nursing my baby. I almost always situate a nursing pillow under my arm to get us in the right position. Granted, my husband had no complaints here, so it’s height-dependent, but you may want to keep pillows nearby for tweaking the fit and support during feeding time.
- The power is only on one side. I love the power functions of this glider, but I do have one complaint: the power controls and USB port are all on the right side of the chair. So, when my little one falls asleep supported by my right arm I have to risk a shift or contort my left arm over to use the controls.
- It’s an investment. Depending on your nursery furniture budget, the Glider may be a bit too expensive. I’ll couple that statement by saying that I have never sat it nor used a more well-made nursery chair. And to help offset the cost, Nurture& does offer payment plans and free shipping. They also offer 30-day returns so you can try out The Glider before committing 100%.
Final Verdict
There is something to be said when it comes to having a comfortable place to feed and snuggle your little one. The Glider not only fulfills the function you need in a nursery chair, but it also has all the bells and whistles that make it the covetable spot.
My husband recently asked what we would do with The Glider when our nursery is no longer a nursery. I quickly assured him that it would have a place in the boys’ bedroom for reading books or even our primary room for my own reading corner.
“Oh,” he said, “I just thought maybe I could move it to the den.”
And there you have it, folks–when a dad is eager to adopt the nursery glider you know you’ve found the best one out there.
