Fans of the BOB Revolution Pro jogging stroller may be disappointed to hear that BOB is no longer carrying new versions of the Revolution Pro, but we do have good news for you: they’ve upgraded the BOB Revolution Pro to the new and improved BOB All Terrain Pro. Like the Revolution Pro, the BOB All Terrain jogging stroller offers a high-end, smooth ride for both parent and child. Whether you take it off road or stick to park sidewalks, the expertly crafted suspension system and air-filled tires provide a deluxe jogger stroller experience. No doubt, BOB is one of the best.
The BOB Gear brand has become synonymous with both quality and comfort. Fans of the BOB Revolution Pro looking for an all-terrain stroller (regardless of their speed) will appreciate many of the features that this stroller has to offer. From mountain bike-style suspension system to one-handed adjustments, the ease of use and longevity through multiple children make the BOB Alterrain Pro Jogging Stroller an excellent stroller choice. Granted, this jogging stroller does fall into the “investment” category of baby gear, so read on to determine if the cost equals the benefit for your family.
The Best For Running and More
Before I was pregnant I heard talk of “the BOB.” As I heard parents rave about the many features of BOB strollers, I casually added it to my imaginary baby registry. And when I started my actual research on jogging strollers, I knew without a shadow of a doubt that the BOB was the stroller for me.
I have not always been a runner. In fact, I did not start running until after my second baby was born. Due to my husband’s work schedule, I knew I would be running a lot with my baby and so, investing in a quality jogging stroller would be well worth it.
Since then, I have covered many miles with my running buddy. From recovery walks to speed miles, we have put my BOB Pro jogging stroller to the test. On both rocky ground and smooth pavement it handles amazingly well. The 360-degree front wheel swivels on a dime and the handbrake and wrist strap offer perfect reassurance when we glide downhill.
My son is always happy as a clam when he jumps into our BOB; he is two now and has never once complained about our runs. I am guessing that is in part because there are shocks mounted above the seating area to absorb any bumps along our way. With a 5-point harness that requires no re-threading it has been very simple to adjust his seat as he grows. The bottom basket holds our run supplies and we appreciate the add-on accessories (rain shield and handlebar console) for increased function.
The BOB Alterrain Pro jogging stroller comes in several different colors and it’s available to purchase from Amazon, Walmart, and my favorite REI, where you can see and touch it in person before committing. And, once you are a proud BOB owner their bike shop staff will happily check and fill you BOB’s tires for free.
In addition, these highlight features continue to affirm my choice for BOB jogging strollers:
Longevity
While many of BOB’s strollers can be used from birth with an infant car seat adapter, the BOB Alterrain Pro can be used in walking mode only starting when your baby is around two months old, with your baby sitting in the stroller seat. (And fear not, mamas, according to BOB’s website, a car seat adapter will be released very soon for the Alterrain Pro.) It is safe to jog and off-road travel when little ones reach 8 months and from there, the sky’s the limit. There is no age restriction on the BOB Alterrain Pro and a weight limit of 75 pounds or a height limit of 44 inches means kids of all ages can enjoy a ride.
The longevity does not stop there though. If a new baby joins the family, it gets to live again from birth on up or you can resell (BOB strollers holds value incredibly well) and invest in the Duallie, BOB’s double jogging stroller. Overall, it’s safe to say that despite the steep price tag, a BOB Pro will serve your family for years to come.
Safety First
When jogging with an infant or small child, safety must come first. From the road up, BOB has safety covered. The BOB Alterrain Pro boasts both a handbrake and a flip-flop friendly parking brake . That means you can stop quickly and easily no matter your outing, a key feature for even casual runners. You can never be too careful when you’re carrying precious cargo! The front wheel can lock in place or swivel 360 degrees—you decide based on your exercise routines needs.
The sun canopy on the BOB Alterrain Pro is truly superior–waterproof material offers UPF 50+ protection from the sun and a peek-a-boo window and seat back ventilation provide necessary temperature control and check-ins. No matter the weather you jog in, the BOB Pro is fit to roll. There are also reflective accents in case you are out at dawn or dusk. Plus, the safety harness has thick, padded straps, for extra comfort. If you’ve ever used a cheaper jogging stroller, you can easily tell the difference that comfortable safety harness straps can make.
All the Bells and Whistles
When it comes to bells and whistles, BOB Gear has thought of it all:
- Just-right storage basket. The BOB Pro has an easy-to-reach basket—it’s not the biggest I have seen, but it’s right there in the middle, making it perfect for a jog or an outing.
- Comfy for kids. Sitting children comfortably sit upright or partially recline with a one-hand adjustment. Naps are possible on the go too as the seat can reach a near-flat recline when fully extended. The child’s seat is well-cushioned and easy to clean. There is even a little pocket near the child’s hip for their own water bottle or toy to securely tuck in. And of course, the superior suspension system and shocks mounted directly in the seating area makes navigating even rough terrain smooth riding for kids.
- Adjustable for adults. The adjustable handlebar is made of foam and the perfect texture for pushing grip while also being sweat resistant. Best of all, the handlebar is super adjustable for all heights. The front and back wheels as well as the suspension that guides them are the obvious claim to fame with BOB Pro jogging strollers. This foundation gives BOB the smoothest glide ‘n ride.
- All the accessories. Last but not least, we have the lineup of available accessories. These all must be purchased separately, but depending on your needs, many are well worth budgeting into your BOB investment. I personally have the handlebar console and consider it a must-buy. Gotta have my water and sunglasses close at hand! I also have the rain shield because I live in the Pacific Northwest and run in the mists, showers, and potential downpours pretty often. BOB also has a sun shield accessory, snack tray, travel bag, and the previously mentioned infant car seat adapter.
A Stroller You Can’t Go Wrong With
If you’re considering adding this stroller to your registry, let me just say that I wish I would have started a mileage log when my BOB jogging stroller and I first hit the pavement. Between walks, jogs, and runs, I would venture to say we have logged hundreds of miles. I have never questioned whether or not my BOB Pro jogging stroller was the perfect fit for our all-terrain outings.
And I am not the only one singing BOB’s praises. Go to any park and see what stroller is making laps; go to any race and BOB is who represents. If you can swing the price, definitely purchase a BOB if you have any intentions of jogging with your little one. And if you can’t, scour secondhand shops and online sales to find a deal on a used one. It’s worth the wait.

Frequently Asked Questions
What age can you use the BOB stroller?
With the right accessories, the BOB stroller can be used from day one while walking and is sufficiently built to safely hold a child up to 75 pounds or 44 inches tall. Just be sure to read the specific details of your BOB’s model to insure you are not jogging too soon with your little one. Without the right support, speed and off-road bumps can be too rough for your baby’s lack of head control when they are young.
Do BOB strollers fold up?
Yes! The BOB Alterrain Pro is one of the easiest BOB strollers to fold up. It has a simple, self-standing one-hand fold.
