In March as we all headed into quarantine, people started joking about the coronavirus baby boom. And while some parents swore that no one stuck home with their kids would be thinking about making another baby, it seems there were plenty of people who weren’t scared off from having more kids.
Recently, lots of celebrities have announced that they’re expecting their COVID quarantine babies. Here’s a roundup:
Mandy Moore
Mandy Moore is just the best — her songs got us through our teenage years, and her amazing acting on This Is Us is our weekly dose of mom time. So, we’re thrilled that Moore, 36, is now expecting a baby boy with her husband, Taylor Goldsmith, who she has been married to since 2018.
Moore announced her pregnancy with an adorable bump photo on Instagram posted in late September. She captioned “Baby Boy Goldsmith coming early 2021.”
Moore has said that playing the mother of triplets on This Is Us made her think about expanding her own family.
“I feel a kinship with her,” she told E! back in 2017. “I was most concerned about feeling maternal, not having children myself. But being part of a project like this definitely makes my ovaries start kicking.”
Emma Roberts
Emma Roberts, of American Horror Story, announced back in August that she’s expecting a baby boy in the new year with her boyfriend, Garrett Hedlund. In early October, she took to Instagram to share photos of her socially-distanced baby shower. She looked amazing, with a custom mask that matched her maxi dress.
“So grateful to my family and pod for making my pregnancy feel so celebrated during such wild times,” she wrote.
Princess Eugenie
Everyone loves a Royal Baby, so we’re very excited for Princess Eugenie, granddaughter of Queen Elizabeth and first cousin of Harry and William. Eugenie, 30, announced on Sept. 25 that she and her husband, Jack Brooksbank, are expecting their first baby. Eugenie also announced the pregnancy on Instagram, hinting at the newest royal’s arrival date, but not sharing whether the baby will be a boy or a girl.
“Jack and I are so excited for early 2021….👶🏻” she wrote.
We’re curious to see if having a little one changes the way that Eugenie relates to her royal duties, like it did for her cousin Harry.
Bindi Irwin
The daughter of The Crocodile Hunter Steve Irwin just got married at the start of the pandemic in March, but she’s already preparing to welcome a new addition with her husband, Chandler Powell.
Bindi opted not to wait to announce her pregnancy.
“It’s an honour to share this special moment in our lives with you,” she wrote in August. “Though I’m still in my first trimester, we really want you to be part of our journey from the beginning of this new life chapter. We couldn’t wait to share the news as this beautiful little being has become the most important part of our lives. Your support means the world to us. Please let me know your best advice and send good vibes & prayers to our little sweetheart.”
More recently, she announced that she and Powell are expecting a baby girl, using a unique take on the “size of the baby” comparison — a hatchling tortoise.
Ashley Tinsdale
The former High School Musical star announced on September 17 that she’s expecting her first baby. She shared a picture of her and her husband Christopher French with the caption “Just the freaking cutest.”
A few weeks later, Tinsdale and her bump made a political statement.
“#Imvotingfor my baby!,” she wrote. “I want a president that believes in the science of climate change so they can have a future and a world to grow up in. @joebiden and @kamalaharris will make that possible by making climate change a priority.”
Ashley Simpson
Singer Ashley Simpson announced in April that she’s expected her third child, a boy. In late September, she posted pictures from a baby shower celebration hosted by her sister, Jessica.
“I’m so grateful to be with my family as we get ready for my baby boy! Not long now!” she wrote.
Mindy Kaling
In a move no one saw coming, Kaling, mom to one daughter, announced on the Late Night Show with Stephen Colbert that she had given birth to her second child, a son she named Spencer, on September 8th.
Katherine McPhee Foster
The Idol alum, 36, recently was spotted out and about with a baby bump, leading to rumors that she is expecting her first child with her husband, Robert, who is 70. Robert has 5 other children, making this is 6th.
We can’t wait to see all the baby pictures coming at the beginning of next year!
